Beautiful traditional terraced cottage located on the edge of Bakewell, in a quite location and backing onto open fields; yet only a short 10min walk away from all the bustle of the town centre. Wonderful hosts.

Biking & Walking in The Peak District

Peak cottage is a cute, compact cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay in Bakewell. It was very clean with good facilities. We particularly liked the small courtyard at the back that catches the afternoon sun perfectly.

Lounge Area

Accessed from a short lane, you enter the cottage into the good sized lounge, where you can relax on the leather sofas after a day sightseeing.

The lounge has an oak floor,  co-ordinating Laura Ashley fabrics and a welcoming Victorian cast iron gas coal effect fire, which makes the room cosy on those cooler nights!  You can look outside for lovely views over the Bakewell treetops and you can see the church.

Kitchen & Dining Area

A door to the rear leads to a  well equipped kitchen/dining room, with wooden Georgian style cottage style units and slate effect tiled floor adding to its charm – you can sit to the table to  have your full english breakfast here with bacon and eggs from the local shops.

The door from the kitchen goes out onto a small enclosed private patio/barbecue area, which enjoys the afternoon and early evening sun for a friendly evening get together.

To the front of the cottage is a second flagged patio sitting out area with a picnic table which enjoys the morning and afternoon sun with excellent views of the area and surrounding farm land. To the rear is a further patio table and chairs in a small back yard area.

The Bedrooms

The original stairs lead to the two bedrooms, the main bedroom to the front has a 5’ king size divan double bed, a decorative fireplace with oak floors and enjoys the views across Bakewell from the bedroom window – you should enjoy a good nights sleep on a firm 5ft king bed with feather pillows (or hypo-allergenic if you prefer!).

The second bedroom, to the rear, has a double bed and views across the surrounding fields. Both bedrooms share the”jack-n-jill” style bathroom with doors from both bedrooms entering the bathroom which has a Victorian style cast iron bath with electric MIRA shower over, hand basin and toilet.

A further flight of stairs (accessed from both bedrooms and the bathroom) leads to the second floor in the eaves of the house, with sloping ceiling with a further double bed with memory foam mattress – this room is great for children to share – and also suitable for adults, however remember that access to the attic room is via either the master bedroom, or the back double bedroom!
